Every spring, Wilmington comes alive with color. The azaleas bloom, and one of my favorite events of the year takes place—the North Carolina Azalea Festival.
A few years ago, we had the honor of having our 1940s Colonial home featured on the Historic Homes Tour. Our home was named, The Sutherland House, after the original owners Lillie Belle Wells and Benjamin Southerland. It was such an incredible moment to open our doors to hundreds of visitors and share the history, renovation story, and the little details we lovingly poured into every room.
The tour was just seven months after our wedding, so we had to act fast to decorate and prepre for the tour. I styled every corner with vintage finds, and had a talented floral designer add beautiful arrangements throughout the home.
If you’ve ever wondered what it was like inside our home during the Azalea Festival, I hope these photos offer a little peek into the magic. It was a special moment in our journey, and I’m so grateful we got to be part of something that celebrates the beauty and history of this town we love so much.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. I hope you find a little inspiration—and maybe an idea or two for your own home.
With love,
Lisa
