Hi, I’m Lisa Nieves—artist, photographer, home designer, with a lifelong love for storytelling through beauty and design.
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, the oldest of four children, often found drawing, reading books, or going to home tours with my mom. My childhood was steeped in creativity—visiting art museums, watching Broadway shows, and admiring the work of my aunt, a renowned calligrapher who deeply inspired my artistic path.
I earned a BFA in Illustration and Design from BYU, where I also danced competitively on the Ballroom Dance Team. After graduation, I painted commissioned portraits and dreamt of illustrating children's books. My creative journey expanded when I joined Thomas Kinkade’s team as a master highlighter, traveling the country enhancing his artwork for collectors.
Later, I built a successful photography business, capturing weddings, families, and moments of magic across California and North Carolina for 17 years.
In 2017, I began a new chapter in real estate with my husband, David. As a surprise proposal, he bought a 1940s Colonial home in the vintage neighborhood I had fallen in love with. We fully renovated it in just 5.5 months and got married on the front steps. The house has been our dream come true.
Since then, our home has been part of the North Carolina Azalea Festival Historic Home Tour, named a "Beauty Spot" by the Wilmington Garden Club, and even appeared in the Hallmark movie USS Christmas. It's not just where we live—it's the heart of our story and the inspiration behind so much of what I create.
I am a mother to one daughter named Isabele. She chased her dream of becoming a professional ballerina by moving to New York City right after high school. For five years, I visited often to watch her perform and soak in the magic of the city. When COVID hit, she came home, met her future husband, and they were married in a beautiful ceremony on Bald Head Island. Today, she’s a wife, a mother of two, and watching her step into this new season has been pure joy. Becoming a Mimi has been the sweetest gift of all.
Today, I share our journey—decorating for the seasons, vintage finds, home projects, and heartfelt moments—on social media and here on the blog. Whether you’re here for ideas, inspiration, or simply a beautiful escape, I’m so glad you stopped by.
